Each step is purpose-built to work together—removing guesswork and ensuring results that meet the highest standards.

1.

Prepare The Area

Before sealing, ensure all joints are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, soap residue, or old silicone. Wipe down using Maxisil Cleaner, designed to remove contaminants and optimise surface adhesion. Mask the edges with tape for sharp, professional lines.

2.

Apply Maxisil Silicone

Choose the right silicone for the job:

Cut the nozzle to match joint width, then apply a smooth, consistent bead directly into the joint. Maxisil’s formula flows evenly without slumping, even in vertical joints.

3.

Finish

Spray Maxisil Smoothtex lightly over the fresh bead and your finishing tool.

Use the Maxisil Applicator Tool to smooth and shape the joint, creating a crisp, professional profile without drag or sticking.

Remove masking tape immediately while the silicone is still wet for a flawless edge.

Consistent joint geometry (width:depth) improves movement performance.

Order the right formulation and color for your project.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is caulk and caulking?
Caulk is a word used for the flexible sealant that is used to fill joints, gaps and cracks. Caulking is the application of a flexible sealant. This is typically done in a building and prevents air or water from entering or escaping through said gaps.
Yes. Two of the common caulks are painters’ caulk and silicone caulk. Painters’ caulks are commonly used to fill gaps in dry, interior spaces with minimal movement between surfaces, such as baseboards, door frames and window casings. Silicone caulks are significantly more flexible and have superior water resistance and durability for both interior and exterior applications.
Use silicone over painters’ caulk for its superior flexibility, durability, water, mold, and temperature resistance, making it ideal for high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens, and around glass, metal, and ceramic.
Use Acrylic Caulk when you are required to paint the sealant.
Silicone sealants offer a blend of flexibility, water resistance, and longevity, making them ideal for bathrooms.
With proper application and maintenance, they can last up to 20 years.
Silicone sealants themselves aren’t paintable, but specific paintable varieties are available in the market.
Ideally, wait for 24 hours to ensure complete curing.Use Maxisil Natural Stone (RDX 1001) for all natural stone. Its neutral‑cure chemistry prevents edge darkening and staining.
It’s best to remove the old layer for optimal adhesion and results. When restoring joints contaminated with mould, the existing elastic sealant must be removed completely. Before re-jointing, the affected joint areas are to be treated with Maxisil Anti-Mildew Spray to remove existing fungal spores. Otherwise, a new mould attack may again occur in the joints, despite the mould protection technology of the sealant.
Yes, silicone sealants come in various colors to match different bathroom décors.
Avoid using acetic cure silicone on Natural Stone. Avoid contact with materials which contain bitumen and which release solvents, e. g. butyl, EPDM, neoprene, insulating, and bituminous paint.
While curing, small amounts of acetic acid are released. Ensure good ventilation during application and curing. After curing the product is completely odorless, physiologically harmless and unmodified.
Maxisil A is a premium and professional 100% pure silicone product, available for trade and domestic use. It is UV stable, and with built-in fungicides is highly mould resistant. 1-component acetate-curing silicone sealant Excellent weathering, ageing and UV-resistance Enables a great finish, will not string out during application Good tooling and smoothing properties Contains fungicides Medium skin formation time for easy handling Very good adhesion on ceramic substrates
Sealing connection joints between ceramic tiles, showers, baths and flooring sections Sealing connection joints in the change of plane. (Wall to wall / Wall to Floor joints) Expansion/movement joints in bathroom and wet areas Sealing of connection joints on door and window frames Sealing of double-glazing joints Glass block glazing Sealing general building substrates Interior and exterior use
Not at all. Grouted areas are not affected by using silicone sealants.
